Herbert James Dvorscak

Dvorscak HerbertCasco, ME – Herbert J. Dvorscak, 88, formerly of Trenton, FL went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Scarborough, ME.

He was born in North Arlington, NJ on January 13, 1925, son of the late John and Gladys Dvorscak. He was predeceased in death by his wife Edythe “Mickey” (Earl) Dvorscak in May of 1999.

Herbert was a member of our greatest generation, serving in the U.S. Army Europe during World War II. After his service he returned home to New Jersey and worked as a builder with his father and brothers at Dvor Homes and Argyle Block Company. Later he became a restaurateur, operating five family style restaurants over many years.

He is survived by two sons, James Dvorscak and his wife Lettie of Casco, ME and Larry Dvorscak and his wife Patricia of Crystal River, FL. He also leaves three grandchildren Michael, Kimberly and Christopher as well as a brother Kenneth Dvorscak of Pompton Plains, NJ, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held for immediate family only.

so sorry to hear of your dads passing. i too lost my dad. very hard.... i waitressed at dvors in the 1970's for your parents. they were beautiful people and will be sorely missed. So many times i wanted to find u guys and ask for herbs bread pudding recipe. Never found any better. hope all is well with you and your families. My prayers are with you, love heidi

My condolences to the family. I knew him when they owned and operated Dvor's in Bridgton, Maine. Charlie and I liked him and Mickey right off. Charlie passed also in May 1999. Sympathies to James and Lettie. He was a good man.
